our practice

Our practice is principally devoted to commercial, fiduciary, executive employment and trade secret disputes – though we also represent clients in FDIC and other regulatory investigations. Our clients range from multinational corporations and their individual officers, directors, and executives, to midmarket companies and community banks, to small businesses and individuals. The disputes we handle involve both foreign nationals and local businesses and the full range of commercial conflicts (including attorney professional liability and fee disputes). We bring to each substantial experience litigating and trying cases in Illinois’ federal and state courts (as well as the courts of numerous other jurisdictions).

Recent representations have included:

  • Representing a Chicago-area financial institution in lender liability and constitutional tort claims brought by defaulting borrowers, all of which were resolved prior to substantial discovery.
  • Representing individual officers and directors of a failed financial institution in connection with an FDIC demand for payment. No claim was ultimately filed against our clients.
  • Representing a small business in a legal malpractice case arising out of additional liabilities incurred in connection with a corporate acquisition.
  • Representing an energy company in a putative class lawsuit in federal court.
  • Representing a financial services company and an executive employee in defending against trade secret misappropriation and contractual claims.
  • Representing an executive employee to negotiate a favorable separation agreement and resolve pre-litigation claims.
  • Representing a Chicago-area steel company in connection with claims arising out of a failed real estate deal, resolving case prior to trial on very favorable terms to client.
  • Serving as local counsel to national firms in connection with shareholder derivative, financial services, product liability and civil antitrust litigation.
